Casa Rinconada in Chaco Culture National Historic Park has two doorway in the most northern room.  These doorways align pretty close to direct east/west.

On the eastern horizon can be see a cliff face that breaks the horizon line with a north face.

The equinox Sun rises just below this face and then angles into the cliff to disappear.  It reappears minutes later on the cliff top.

This only happens from the vantage point of these two doorways twice per year on the morning of the equinox.

Was this intentionally built 940 years ago to commemorate this event?
